La Jolla Youth Soccer League

To La Jolla IMPACT players, parents, coaches, and team managers:

I wanted to thank you all for being part of our competitive soccer program in 2009-10 season and hope you had a great experience.
As we move into our new season, we are making changes to improve in all areas.  Our program is getting more recognition, and earning the respect in the communities outside of La Jolla.  We are very proud of the past year’s progress, and look forward to more improvements.

Changes for 2010-11

We are transitioning from a 6-month to an 8-month competitive program, with the opportunity for players to compete year round with some teams.
To support this commitment, we are proud to announce the newly created positions of Boys and Girls Directors for La Jolla IMPACT.

Coach Joe Montoya: Girls Director
Coach Tsaki Demirdjian: Boys Director (new to La Jolla IMPACT, previously coaching Nomads, and Albion)

General questions that families have:

Do we have to attend all tryouts?
It is recommended that players attend as many as possible, as we are viewing the first three try-out dates as mandatory.
(It is important that existing La Jolla IMPACT players attend to compare talent, regardless of known coach’s intentions)

What is the difference between the Blue Teams and the White Teams for 2010-11?
The Blue teams will play at a higher level (AA-A, AAA, Premier) and is a more demanding commitment.  The White teams are still competitively demanding, but do not require the commitment level of the Blue Teams.  This is especially evident with the number of tournaments played.  Each coach will define expectations for tournaments and training.   In the age brackets that have only one team, the coach will determine the commitment level and playing ability.

Who will our coach be?
When you attend tryouts, we will have information on each coach and each level if there are multiple teams.  If we offer a Blue and White team in the same age group, players will be notified post try-outs, what team that have been selected to.

What days will we practice?
Boys practice will be Tuesday and Thursday and the girls practice will be Monday and Wednesday.  There will also be specialty clinics held on Fridays that will be directed by the Directors of the Boys and Girls Programs.  Some teams may practice on other days depending on field space. We will be stressing dynamic training for all teams.  Allen Field will be utilized 5 days per week.  Also Muirlands MS Turf will be open in the fall.

We hope you will continue to be part of our program.
Looking forward to seeing you on the pitch!
